Henry Ford’s development of the assembly line and mass production revolutionized the auto industry. His methods made it cheaper to manufacture the Model T which made it affordable to most working families. His assembly line method allowed him to hire less skilled people, train them more easily, and still pay top wages. This method became known as “Fordism.” The moving assembly line, which was first implemented at Ford’s Model T plant at Highland Park, MI in 1914, assembled cars ten times faster, and allowed prices to drop from $780 in 1910 to $360 in 1914.
